Pre-application advice
Projects run more smoothly if you involve us at an early stage, ideally when you are making your planning application.
Early discussion allows you to identify and iron out any building regulation compliance issues. The Building Safety Regulators code of conduct for registered building inspectors means that our staff cannot provide design advice, however an early discussion will allow us to agree the relevant guidance to be used, and signpost where you can get specific design advice so that you meet the standards required.
Design advice includes such things as:-
- Specifying foundation depths
- Advising what materials will meet the standards required for walls, floors or roofs
Unless advised otherwise, it is assumed that the building work will comply with the guidance in the relevant ‘Approved Documents A-T’, which are free to download on the governments Gov.uk website. (link to Approved Documents – GOV.UK)
We are unable to deal with pre-application advice requests over the telephone, this is because we need to allocate the task to an appropriate registered Building Inspector.
